Description
The issue allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise Java SE and Java SE Embedded. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker. While the vulnerability is in Java SE and Java SE Embedded, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this issue can result in takeover of Java SE and Java SE Embedded. This issue applies to Java deployments that load and run untrusted code and rely on the Java sandbox for security, typically in clients running sandboxed Java Web Start applications or sandboxed Java applets.
Recommendations
For Java SE versions 6u151, 7u141, and 8u131, update to a version that is not affected by this issue.
For Java SE Embedded version 8u131, update to a version that is not affected by this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of Java Web Start applications and Java applets that load and run untrusted code until a patch is available.
Avoid using Java deployments that rely on the Java sandbox for security in environments where untrusted code is executed.
