Description
A vulnerability in the Java SE and Java SE Embedded components of Oracle Java SE allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise Java SE and Java SE Embedded. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and may significantly impact additional products. The vulnerability applies to Java deployments that load and run untrusted code and rely on the Java sandbox for security, typically in clients running sandboxed Java Web Start applications or sandboxed Java applets.
Recommendations
For Java SE versions 6u161, 7u151, 8u144 and 9, update to a version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
For Java SE Embedded version 8u144, update to a version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the RMI subcomponent until a patch is available.
Avoid loading and running untrusted code in Java deployments that rely on the Java sandbox for security.
