CVE-2017-10689

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Puppet Agent versions prior to 5.3.4 Puppet Agent versions prior to 1.10.10
Description The issue concerns the installation of modules with world-writable permissions in previous versions of Puppet Agent. When using minitar to install a module, files are unpacked with the permissions specified in the tarball, which can be potentially unsafe if the tarball contains unusual permissions. The system tar, on the other hand, filters filesystem permissions to a sane value based on the user's umask.
Recommendations For versions prior to 5.3.4, update to version 5.3.4 or later to resolve the issue. For versions prior to 1.10.10, update to version 1.10.10 or later to resolve the issue.
