CVE-2017-11029

CVSS v2.0

4.6

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Android for MSM versions (affected versions not specified) Firefox OS for MSM versions (affected versions not specified) QRD Android versions (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue arises in the camera application due to the Camera CPP module Linux driver directly accessing the application-provided buffer in user space, triggering a "user-memory-access" issue. An unchecked userspace value (ioctl ptr->len) is used to copy contents to a kernel buffer, which can lead to a kernel buffer overflow.
Recommendations For Android for MSM, consider restricting access to the camera application until a fix is applied. For Firefox OS for MSM, avoid using the camera functionality in the affected versions until the issue is resolved. For QRD Android, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the camera module to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
