CVE-2017-11423

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions libmspack version 0.5alpha ClamAV version 0.99.2
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a stack-based buffer over-read and application crash, via a crafted CAB file. This is due to a problem in the cabd read string function in mspack/cabd.c.
Recommendations For libmspack version 0.5alpha, consider disabling the cabd read string function until a patch is available. For ClamAV version 0.99.2, restrict the processing of CAB files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
