Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
FontForge version 20161012
Description
The issue is related to a buffer over-read in the
strnmatch function, located in char.c, which can result in denial of service or code execution. This occurs when processing a crafted otf file, and is linked to a call from the readttfcopyrights function in parsettf.c.Recommendations
For FontForge version 20161012, consider avoiding the use of crafted otf files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to files that could potentially trigger the buffer over-read in the
strnmatch function.Fix
