CVE-2016-5321

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions libtiff versions 4.0.6 and earlier
Description The issue is related to the DumpModeDecode function in libtiff, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted tiff image. This is due to an out-of-bounds memory access operation. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by using a specially crafted tiff image, leading to a denial of service.
Recommendations For libtiff versions 4.0.6 and earlier, consider disabling the DumpModeDecode function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to handling tiff images to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
