CVE-2016-10012

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenSSH versions prior to 7.4
Description The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the shared memory manager of the sshd daemon in OpenSSH, which can be exploited by a local attacker to gain privileges. This is achieved by leveraging access to a sandboxed privilege-separation process, specifically related to the m zback and m zlib data structures.
Recommendations For versions prior to 7.4, update to version 7.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the privilege-separation process to minimize the risk of exploitation.
