Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series devices (affected versions not specified)
Description
A vulnerability in the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) call handling could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition. This occurs because the SIP process unexpectedly restarts, dropping all active phone calls. The issue is due to incomplete input validation of the SIP packet header. An attacker could exploit this by sending a malformed SIP packet to a targeted phone, allowing them to cause a DoS condition as all phone calls are dropped when the SIP process restarts.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
