The issue is triggered by opening a crafted disk image, leading to infinite recursion in the
dos load ext table() function in tsk/vs/dos.c in libtskvs.a, as demonstrated by mmls.Recommendations
For The Sleuth Kit (TSK) version 4.4.2, consider avoiding the use of crafted disk images until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the use of the
dos load ext table() function in tsk/vs/dos.c to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.DoS
