CVE-2017-14262

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Samsung NVR devices (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue allows remote attackers to read the MD5 password hash of the 'admin' account by sending certain szUserName JSON data to the "cgi-bin/main-cgi" API endpoint. This hash can then be used in the szUserPasswd parameter to login to the device.
Recommendations For Samsung NVR devices, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the "cgi-bin/main-cgi" API endpoint until a patch is available. Avoid using the szUserName and szUserPasswd parameters in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
