CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 8.3.1
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the modDate attribute of Annotation objects due to the lack of validating the existence of an object prior to performing operations on it. An attacker can leverage this to execute code under the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 8.3.1, update to a version that addresses this issue, as the current version allows for remote code execution due to the lack of object existence validation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
