Description
The issue occurs due to a computation that reads data past the end of the target buffer in the image conversion module, specifically when processing Enhanced Metafile Format Plus (EMF+) data. This happens because of an invalid pointer offset during access of internal data structure fields. A successful attack can lead to sensitive data exposure. Additionally, this vulnerability can allow attackers to execute code remotely.
Recommendations
For versions 2017.012.20098 and earlier, update to a version later than 2017.012.20098 to resolve the issue.
For versions 2017.011.30066 and earlier, update to a version later than 2017.011.30066 to resolve the issue.
For versions 2015.006.30355 and earlier, update to a version later than 2015.006.30355 to resolve the issue.
For versions 11.0.22 and earlier, update to a version later than 11.0.22 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the image conversion module that processes EMF+ data until a patch is available.
