Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.699 build 1001
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on vulnerable installations. Although authentication is required to exploit this issue, the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed. The specific flaw exists within the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.restore.download 005fdo jsp servlet, which listens on TCP port 8081 by default. When parsing the
filename parameter, the process does not properly validate a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other issues to execute code in the context of Administrator.Recommendations
For NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.699 build 1001, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.restore.download 005fdo jsp servlet to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the
filename parameter in the affected servlet until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Fix
