Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files on vulnerable installations. Although authentication is required to exploit this issue, the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed. The specific flaw exists within the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.restore.del 005fdo jsp servlet, which listens on TCP port 8081 by default. When parsing the
filenames parameter, the process does not properly validate a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this issue to delete any files accessible to the Administrator user.Recommendations
For NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.restore.del 005fdo jsp servlet until a patch is available. Restrict access to the
filenames parameter in the affected servlet to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Fix
