CVE-2017-16594

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034
Description This issue allows remote attackers to create arbitrary files on vulnerable installations. Although authentication is required to exploit this issue, the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed. The specific flaw exists within the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.db.save 005fimage jsp servlet, which listens on TCP port 8081 by default. When parsing the id parameter, the process does not properly validate user-supplied data, which can allow for the upload of files. An attacker can leverage this issue to execute code under the context of Administrator.
Recommendations For NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.db.save 005fimage jsp servlet until a patch is available. Restrict access to the TCP port 8081 to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the id parameter in the affected servlet until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
