CVE-2017-16602

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. Although authentication is required to exploit this issue, the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed. The specific flaw exists within the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.tools.exec jsp servlet, which listens on TCP port 8081 by default. When parsing the command parameter, the process does not properly validate a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this issue to execute code under the context of Administrator.
Recommendations For NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034, consider disabling the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.tools.exec jsp servlet until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to TCP port 8081 to minimize the risk of remote code execution. Avoid using the command parameter in the affected servlet until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
