CVE-2017-16605

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034
Description This issue allows remote attackers to overwrite arbitrary files on vulnerable installations. Although authentication is required to exploit this issue, the existing authentication mechanism can be bypassed. The specific flaw exists within the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.db.save 005fattrs jsp servlet, which listens on TCP port 8081 by default. When parsing the id parameter, the process does not properly validate a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this issue to overwrite any files accessible to the Administrator.
Recommendations For NetGain Systems Enterprise Manager version 7.2.730 build 1034, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the org.apache.jsp.u.jsp.db.save 005fattrs jsp servlet until a patch is available. Avoid using the id parameter in the affected servlet to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
