Description
The issue allows guest OS users to execute arbitrary code on the host OS via a crafted application. This is due to insufficient input validation in the Hyper-V application. An attacker can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code on the host OS using a specially crafted application.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows Vista SP2, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
For Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
For Microsoft Windows 8.1, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
For Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
For Microsoft Windows 10 Gold, 1511, and 1607, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
For Microsoft Windows Server 2016, update to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Hyper-V application until a patch is available.
