Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
ImageMagick version 6.9.4-8
Description
The issue is related to a heap-based buffer overflow in the ReadRLEImage function, which can be exploited by remote attackers using a crafted RLE file. This can cause a denial of service, resulting in an application crash, and may have other unspecified impacts.
Recommendations
For ImageMagick version 6.9.4-8, consider disabling the ReadRLEImage function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to RLE files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
