CVSS v2.0
7.1
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
ImageMagick versions prior to 6.9.4-7
Description
The issue is related to a memory leak in the NewXMLTree function in magick/xml-tree.c. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service by consuming memory via a crafted XML file.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 6.9.4-7, update to version 6.9.4-7 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the NewXMLTree function until a patch is available. Avoid processing untrusted XML files with the affected function to minimize the risk of exploitation.
