CVE-2017-3852

CVSS v3.1

8.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Cisco IOx versions 1.0.0.0 through 1.1.0.0
Description A vulnerability in the Cisco application-hosting framework component could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to write or modify arbitrary files in the virtual instance running on the affected device. This is due to insufficient input validation of user-supplied application packages. An attacker who can upload a malicious package could exploit the vulnerability to modify arbitrary files. The impacts of a successful exploit are limited to the scope of the virtual instance and do not impact the router hosting Cisco IOx.
Recommendations For Cisco IOx versions 1.0.0.0 through 1.1.0.0, consider restricting the upload of application packages to trusted sources until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, monitor virtual instance file systems for unauthorized modifications. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
