CVE-2017-5661

CVSS v2.0

7.9

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:S/C:C/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Apache FOP versions prior to 2.2
Description The issue allows arbitrary users to reveal files on the server's filesystem by sending maliciously formed SVG files. The types of files that can be accessed depend on the user context in which the application is running. If the application is running as root, a full server compromise is possible, including access to confidential files. The issue can also be used for denial of service attacks via amplification.
Recommendations For Apache FOP versions prior to 2.2, update to version 2.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the SVG file processing functionality to minimize the risk of exploitation.
