Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions iOS versions prior to 10.3 macOS versions prior to 10.12.4 tvOS versions prior to 10.2 watchOS versions prior to 3.2
Description The issue is related to the ImageIO component and involves a buffer overflow in memory, which can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially crafted JPEG file. This can lead to arbitrary code execution or a denial of service, resulting in memory corruption and application crash.
Recommendations For iOS versions prior to 10.3, update to version 10.3 or later to resolve the issue. For macOS versions prior to 10.12.4, update to version 10.12.4 or later to resolve the issue. For tvOS versions prior to 10.2, update to version 10.2 or later to resolve the issue. For watchOS versions prior to 3.2, update to version 3.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of the ImageIO component for parsing JPEG files until a patch is available.
