Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
libsndfile versions prior to 1.0.28
Description
The issue is related to an error in the
flac buffer copy() function, which can be exploited to cause a segmentation violation with write memory access. This can occur when a specially crafted FLAC file is processed during a resample attempt.Recommendations
For versions prior to 1.0.28, update to version 1.0.28 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of specially crafted FLAC files or restricting access to the
flac buffer copy() function until a patch is available.Exploit
