| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 11.0.19 and earlier
Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 15.006.30280 and earlier
Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 15.023.20070 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in image conversion, specifically when parsing offsets in TIFF files. This could lead to arbitrary code execution if successfully exploited. The vulnerability is caused by an out-of-bounds operation in memory due to the parsing of TIFF files, which can allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations
For Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 11.0.19 and earlier, update to a version later than 11.0.19 to resolve the issue.
For Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 15.006.30280 and earlier, update to a version later than 15.006.30280 to resolve the issue.
For Adobe Acrobat Reader versions 15.023.20070 and earlier, update to a version later than 15.023.20070 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the image conversion feature for TIFF files until a patch is available. Restrict access to TIFF files to minimize the risk of exploitation.
