Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1 Windows 7 SP1 Windows 8.1 Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2 Windows RT 8.1 Windows 10 versions Gold through 1703 Windows Server 2016 Office 2007 SP3 Office 2010 SP2 Word Viewer Office for Mac versions 2011 through 2016 Skype for Business 2016 Lync 2013 SP1 Lync 2010 Lync 2010 Attendee Live Meeting 2007 Add-in and Console
Description The issue allows an authenticated attacker to retrieve information from a targeted system via a specially crafted application. It exists in the way that the Windows Graphics Device Interface (GDI) handles objects in memory. By itself, the information disclosure does not allow arbitrary code execution; however, it could allow arbitrary code to be run if the attacker uses it in combination with another vulnerability. To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker would have to log on to an affected system.
Recommendations For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Windows 7 SP1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Windows 8.1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Windows RT 8.1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Windows 10 versions Gold through 1703, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Windows Server 2016, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Office 2007 SP3, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Office 2010 SP2, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Word Viewer, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Office for Mac versions 2011 through 2016, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Skype for Business 2016, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Lync 2013 SP1, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Lync 2010, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Lync 2010 Attendee, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. For Live Meeting 2007 Add-in and Console, update to a newer version to mitigate the risk. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to sensitive information on affected systems until a patch is available.
