Description The DNS dissector in Wireshark could enter an infinite loop due to self-referencing pointers. This issue was addressed by implementing a detection mechanism for such pointers in the epan/dissectors/packet-dns.c file.
Recommendations For Wireshark versions 2.0.0 through 2.0.12, update to a version that includes the fix for the infinite loop issue in the DNS dissector. For Wireshark versions 2.2.0 through 2.2.6, update to a version that includes the fix for the infinite loop issue in the DNS dissector.
