Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
ytnef version 1.9.2
Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a heap-based buffer over-read and application crash, via a crafted file. This is due to the SwapDWord function in lib/ytnef.c.
Recommendations
For ytnef version 1.9.2, consider avoiding the use of crafted files that may trigger the SwapDWord function until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to potentially malicious files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
