Description
The issue allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted .fpx file. It is related to "Data from Faulting Address controls Code Flow starting at Xfpx!gffGetFormatInfo+0x0000000000020e91."
Recommendations
For XnView Classic for Windows version 2.40, consider avoiding the use of .fpx files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the opening of .fpx files in XnView Classic for Windows to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
