CVE-2017-3459

CVSS v3.1

4.9

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MySQL Server versions 5.7.17 and earlier
Description The issue is related to inadequate access control in the MySQL Server component of Oracle MySQL, specifically in the Server: Optimizer subcomponent. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain privileged access and cause the system to hang or crash using network packets. The attacker must have high privileges and network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server, potentially resulting in a denial of service (DOS).
Recommendations For versions 5.7.17 and earlier, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, limit the use of the Optimizer subcomponent to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the MySQL Server with high privileged access via multiple protocols until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
