Description The issue is caused by a stack-based buffer overflow related to the decode zbuf function in libavcodec/pngdec.c, allowing a remote attacker to perform an out-of-bounds write. This is a result of an out-of-bounds write caused by the buffer overflow.
Recommendations For FFmpeg versions prior to 2017-01-23, update to a version released after 2017-01-23 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the decode zbuf function in libavcodec/pngdec.c until a patch is available.
