CVE-2017-12434

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions ImageMagick versions 7.0.6-1
Description The issue is related to insufficient input validation, specifically a missing NULL check, in the ReadMATImage function in coders/mat.c. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, resulting in an "Assertion failure" error when the DestroyImageInfo function in image.c is executed.
Recommendations For ImageMagick version 7.0.6-1, consider disabling the ReadMATImage function in coders/mat.c as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the DestroyImageInfo function in image.c to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
