Description
A heap buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the X509 certificate parsing functionality. This issue can be triggered by a specially crafted x509 certificate, leading to remote code execution when presented to the vulnerable client or server application during secure connection initiation.
Recommendations
For InsideSecure MatrixSSL version 3.8.7b, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the X509 certificate parsing functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable certificate parsing module to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using specially crafted x509 certificates in the affected application until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
