Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Veritas NetBackup Appliance versions 3.0 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a lack of input validation measures in the NetBackup Appliance software, allowing unauthenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain elevated privileges.
Recommendations
For Veritas NetBackup Appliance versions 3.0 and earlier, consider restricting access to the appliance until a fix is available, and ensure that all inputs are properly validated to prevent command execution. As a temporary workaround, limit the ability of unauthenticated users to interact with the system. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
