Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Veritas NetBackup versions 8.0 and earlier
Veritas NetBackup Appliance versions 3.0 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to insufficient access control, allowing unauthenticated file copy and arbitrary remote command execution. This can be achieved by exploiting the
bprd process, potentially enabling an attacker to copy any file and execute commands in a privileged mode.Recommendations
For Veritas NetBackup versions 8.0 and earlier, update to a version later than 8.0 to resolve the issue.
For Veritas NetBackup Appliance versions 3.0 and earlier, update to a version later than 3.0 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
bprd process to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
