CVSS v2.0
7.9
High
| Vector | AV:A/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
WPA and WPA2 (affected versions not specified)
FortiOS (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to errors in cryptographic key management in the WPA2 protocol, which secures Wi-Fi networks. An attacker within radio range can exploit this issue to access encrypted information transmitted over the wireless network, such as decrypting or injecting data packets, or hijacking TCP connections. This is possible due to the reinstallation of the Group Temporal Key (GTK) during the four-way handshake when a device connects to a Wi-Fi access point.
Recommendations
For WPA and WPA2, consider disabling the use of GTK until a patch is available.
For FortiOS, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
