Description
The issue is related to insufficient access restrictions in the Microsoft Windows Text Services Framework (TSF) of the Windows operating system. It may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user by using a specially crafted website. The vulnerability is due to how Microsoft Windows Text Services Framework handles objects in memory.
Recommendations
For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
For Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, apply the necessary patch to resolve the vulnerability.
For Microsoft Windows 8.1 and RT 8.1, install the update that addresses this issue.
For Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and R2, apply the relevant security update to fix the vulnerability.
For Microsoft Windows 10 versions prior to the fixed version, including Gold, 1511, 1607, 1703, update to a newer version that includes the fix.
For Microsoft Windows Server 2016, apply the necessary patch to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the TSF interface until a patch is available.
