Description
A buffer overflow exists in the psnotifyd application, allowing remote code execution through a specially crafted packet. The client is always listening, has root privileges, and requires no user interaction to exploit. This issue can be exploited by sending a crafted packet to the victim's computer, resulting in a heap-based buffer overflow.
Recommendations
For Pharos PopUp printer client version 9.0, consider disabling the psnotifyd application as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the psnotifyd application to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
