CVE-2017-7890

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions GD Graphics Library versions prior to 2.2.5 PHP versions prior to 5.6.31 and 7.x prior to 7.1.7
Description The issue is related to the GIF decoding function gdImageCreateFromGifCtx in the GD Graphics Library, which does not properly initialize colorMap arrays before use. This could allow a specially crafted GIF image to read sensitive information from the stack, potentially disclosing confidential data.
Recommendations For PHP versions prior to 5.6.31, update to version 5.6.31 or later. For PHP 7.x versions prior to 7.1.7, update to version 7.1.7 or later. For GD Graphics Library versions prior to 2.2.5, update to version 2.2.5 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the gdImageCreateFromGifCtx function until a patch is available.
