CVE-2017-16934

CVSS v2.0

10

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions DBLTek devices (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands by obtaining the admin password via a "frame.html?content=/dev/mtdblock/5" request. The attacker can then use this password for HTTP Basic Authentication needed for a "change password.csp" request, which supports a "<%%25call system.exec:" string in the passwd parameter. This vulnerability exists due to the lack of measures to neutralize special elements used in the operating system command.
Recommendations As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the change password.csp script until a patch is available. Restrict access to the frame.html endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the passwd parameter in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
