| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Apache OpenOffice versions prior to 4.1.4
Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the PPTStyleSheet function of the PPT file parser. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution, by crafting malicious documents that result in memory corruption and application crash.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 4.1.4, update to version 4.1.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider avoiding the use of the PPT file parser until a patch is applied. Restrict access to potentially malicious documents to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
DoS
Memory Corruption
