Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
GIMP version 2.8.22
Description:
The issue is related to a heap-based buffer overflow in the
fli read brun function, located in plug-ins/file-fli/fli.c. This can potentially allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code.Recommendations:
For GIMP version 2.8.22, consider disabling the
fli read brun function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the affected fli.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Memory Corruption
