CVE-2016-7800

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions GraphicsMagick versions 1.3.25 and earlier
Description The issue is related to an integer underflow in the parse8BIM function, located in coders/meta.c, which can lead to a heap-based buffer overflow. This can be exploited by a remote attacker using a crafted 8BIM chunk, resulting in a denial of service, specifically an application crash.
Recommendations For GraphicsMagick versions 1.3.25 and earlier, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the parse8BIM function until a patch is available. Restrict access to the coders/meta.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the parse8BIM function in the affected GraphicsMagick versions until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
