CVE-2017-14165

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions GraphicsMagick version 1.3.26
Description The issue is related to the ReadSUNImage function in GraphicsMagick, where excessive memory allocation occurs due to dependence on a length field in a header. This may lead to a remote denial of service. The problem is also described as a buffer overflow in memory, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.
Recommendations For GraphicsMagick version 1.3.26, consider disabling the ReadSUNImage function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the MagickMalloc function in magick/memory.c to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
