CVE-2017-11613

CVSS v2.0

7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions LibTIFF version 4.0.8
Description The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the TIFFOpen function, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service. A crafted input file can control the value of td imagelength, and setting this value close to the amount of system memory can cause the system to hang or trigger the OOM killer. The ChopUpSingleUncompressedStrip function calls TIFFCheckMalloc based on td imagelength, leading to the denial of service.
Recommendations For LibTIFF version 4.0.8, consider restricting the use of the TIFFOpen function until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, limit the input file size to prevent excessive memory allocation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
