CVE-2017-5466

CVSS v3.1

6.1

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Thunderbird versions prior to 52.1 Firefox ESR versions prior to 52.1 Firefox versions prior to 53
Description The issue allows for a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack when a page is loaded from an original site through a hyperlink and contains a redirect to a "data:text/html" URL. Triggering a reload will run the reloaded "data:text/html" page with its origin set incorrectly. This vulnerability is related to the failure to protect the structure of a web page, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to conduct XSS attacks by redirecting to a "data:text/html" URL.
Recommendations For Thunderbird versions prior to 52.1, update to version 52.1 or later. For Firefox ESR versions prior to 52.1, update to version 52.1 or later. For Firefox versions prior to 53, update to version 53 or later.
