CVE-2017-14746

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Samba versions 4.x before 4.7.3
Description The issue is related to a use-after-free vulnerability in the implementation of the SMB1 protocol in the Samba network interaction software package. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain access to confidential data, compromise data integrity, and cause a denial of service. The vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted SMB1 request, potentially giving them control over the contents of dynamic memory.
Recommendations For Samba versions 4.x before 4.7.3, update to version 4.7.3 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the SMB1 protocol until a patch is available.
