CVE-2017-18252

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions ImageMagick version 7.0.7
Description The issue is related to the MogrifyImageList function in the MagickWand/mogrify.c component of ImageMagick, which can be exploited by attackers to cause a denial of service. This can be achieved through a crafted file, leading to an assertion failure and application exit in ReplaceImageInList. The vulnerability is associated with insufficient use of the assert() function, allowing a remote attacker to disrupt service using a specially created file.
Recommendations For ImageMagick version 7.0.7, consider disabling the MogrifyImageList function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to crafted files that could exploit this issue to minimize the risk of disruption. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
