CVE-2017-7544

CVSS v3.1

9.1

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions libexif versions 0.6.21 and earlier
Description The issue is related to an out-of-bounds heap read in the exif data save data entry function in libexif/exif-data.c, caused by improper length computation of the allocated data of an ExifMnote entry. This can lead to denial-of-service or possibly information disclosure. The vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain access to confidential information or cause a denial of service.
Recommendations For libexif versions 0.6.21 and earlier, consider disabling the exif data save data entry function until a patch is available to prevent potential exploitation. Restrict access to sensitive information and ensure proper input validation to minimize the risk of information disclosure. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
